Staff at Bournemouth Airport are looking forward to welcoming passengers through their new departures terminal, due to open in early summer 2010. The Airport predict around 3 million passengers will be using their terminal every year, proudly served by over 120 staff. Duty Manager, Douglas Grewcock has been actively preparing for the increased level of activity by honing and learning new management skills with The Bournemouth and Poole College.

The newly launched Dorset Engineering and Manufacturing Forum has got off to a flying start with seventy three companies already registered and numbers growing. The forum is an opportunity for sector specialists to meet on a regular basis to consider issues facing the industry, to network and share best practice and to look at means of attracting fresh young talent to choose engineering and manufacturing as a potential career pathway.

The College has been working closely with companies in the Hospitality and Catering sector for many years. The Chefs' Forum has set itself a mission to promote catering excellence, and to provide an arena for debate on topics of interest and concern to local chefs, plus of course that vital ingredient of having a good time, networking and socialising and adding value to the tough life of a chef! A Dorset based company has taken further steps to improve the lives of people with mental health problems or learning disabilities. Tangent Homes offer supported accommodation to help people live independently within the community, and have called upon staff at The Bournemouth and Poole College to help further develop staff skills and client services.
