Introduction:
Apprenticeships are a popular choice for young people aged 16 - 24* looking for on-the-job training and the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage. Most of your training will be directly linked to the career you have chosen, gaining practical experience in the workplace, backed up by attendance at college just one day a week.
An Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery will give you valuable experience of a variety of routine food preparation and cooking activities. You will be working in a kitchen environment where your duties could include preparing and cooking a variety of dishes and maintaining a clean safe and hygienic working environment. Your exact duties will depend upon your employer.
Where possible staff from College Apprenticeships Training will find you an employer and a place of work (although students who are already employed are welcome to apply if sponsored by their employer). Your offer of Apprenticeship training will be dependent upon work placements being available.
Apprenticeships are a great option for school leavers who have an interest in food and want to progress in their chosen occupation.
* Please note priority is given to applicants under 19 years of age. Due to funding arrangements, places maybe limited for 19-24 year olds.
