Secondary School Activities

To promote construction trades and Higher Education in construction, we are organising events for Year 9 to 13 students.
To encourage women into construction, we are running these events in mix groups and some as female only activities.

The Real World – Site Visits
Visit a local construction development to find out what it’s really like working on site. Site visits can be combined with your own ideas in teaching NC subjects hands-on, e.g. how to apply Maths in the working world.

Trade Mornings & Taster Days
Try out construction trades in these hands-on, full or half day activities at The Bournemouth & Poole College or Weymouth College.

Design Your Own … – Structure Challenge
Compete in teams to design and build a tubular space-framed model of a visitor centre, a stadium, a bridge, a shelter… Raising awareness of professional careers, this event can be tailored as a careers or industry day, in applied / cross curricular activities or as part of a larger project.

Support to Schools – your own projects, career and enterprise days
Facilitation of one day and long term school projects by industry representatives and Construction Ambassadors. Events we have supported in the past are for example, Dorset Skills Festival, West Dorset Construction & Engineering Roadshow, The Construction Showcase, ‘Design Your School of the Future’, ‘It’s Your Future’ Day, ‘Business Awareness Day’, Enterprise Competition, …
