Employer Charter
As a leading provider of education and training, working with employers is an integral and important part of our business. This charter explains to employers what they can expect from The Bournemouth and Poole College. It also outlines, in return, what The College will expect from employer partnerships.
What you can expect from us:
- That any business or workforce development enquiries will be handled promptly, professionally and confidentially by courteous and friendly staff.
- That our Skills Advisors and Work-Based co-ordinators will be professional and will provide a service related to your business or organisation (micro/self-employed to large multi-national).
- Access to comprehensive information and impartial advice and guidance covering a broad spectrum of industry focused training options.
- If required, our Skills Advisors will book an appointment with you at a convenient time to discuss your complete organisational needs/training needs analysis.
- We will ensure that any training proposals are appropriate and targeted to specifically suit your business needs.
- A demand-led approach with high quality training solutions provided inside and outside the workplace, delivered by well qualified, well informed staff.
- A wide range of accredited courses such as Skills for Life (Literacy, Numeracy and Language) through to professional qualifications and higher level study including degrees.
- If we are unable to offer the service/course you require we will refer you to either a brokerage service or signpost you to an alternative provider where possible.
- Where appropriate we will provide you with a detailed training proposal outlining the full expectations of the training contract and any associated resource implications (including costs).
- We will be transparent about training costs and will inform you about any relevant training grants or subsidies available.
- Information will be supplied about the course/training (content, delivery mode, time frame, assessment, outcomes etc.) and a Training Agreement will set out the full details of the training offer.
- Where appropriate we will submit regular reports on employees’ progress as agreed.
- We will conduct evaluation surveys and invite feedback on our services to help us continuously improve the quality of our business to business provision.
- Sustainable relationships are important to us. We hope to foster good relations with your company/organisation and will keep you well informed of any relevant developments or news.
Employers and Apprenticeship Training
If you are considering employing an Apprentice we will:
- Provide you with a copy of our ‘Employer Guide to Apprenticeships’
- Ensure that a member of our College Apprenticeship Training team supports you with all relevant paperwork/contracts etc.
- Produce an Employer Contract giving you clear information about your responsibilities, those of the Apprentice, and ours as the chosen training provider.
- Undertake regular scheduled visits to monitor progress, complete training reviews and assessments and evaluate training targets.
- Work in partnership with you to ensure that the Apprenticeship contract is fully meeting your expectations and that of the trainee.
What we ask from employers:
- That you honour your training commitments and support your employees throughout the duration of their course/training.
- We ask you to share with us with as much detail as possible about your organisation, your vision and your requirements to help us shape the design of your training programmes.
- To give us open, honest and timely feedback to help us continuously improve the quality of our service, and to let us know immediately if any aspect of our service falls short of your expectations, allowing us to address the issue.
- To participate where appropriate, in Employer Advisory Panels or sector-specific training forums ensuring that our provision remains industry-standard and meets local/regional and national skills demands.
- To supply up to date contact details to ensure that we can communicate with you effectively.
Where applicable, invoices are paid in accordance with agreed terms.
