Diving Into Training
A ground-breaking diving electronics company based in Dorset has called upon The Bournemouth and Poole College to help boost its workforce.
VR Technology has its main offices in Poole, as well as offices in the USA and the Far East. Producing world leading products for the diving industry, the company is made up of a rare mix of very experienced technical divers and professional engineers.
VR Technology recently featured in the national press when the Daily Mail wrote an article about how their specialist equipment and diving technologies were being utilised by Hollywood movie producers in several up coming films.
To support their staff working in this fast moving industry VR Technology has called upon The College to help them recruit and train two engineering apprentices and put personnel through the CMI Introduction to Management course.
Steve Small, Machine Shop Manager, who completed the CMI Introduction to Management said, “I had a great experience during this course, thanks to the professionalism of the tutor. My only regret is that I wish I had pushed to do it before!”
“The training helps you to build on previous management skills, but is focused on the type of industry or business environment you operate in. There is no doubt it will impact on the work we do in our organisation.”
Duncan Newman, Business Enterprise Unit said, “We actively work with employers and young people to match their skills, help them find good jobs or apprenticeship opportunities. In the case of VR Technology, this is an engineering apprenticeship with a difference, and the two lucky trainees are very excited about their future career opportunities.”
The College’s Business Enterprise team offers a no obligation consultation service to find training solutions for business of all sizes and industries across the region.
The College also works closely with employers to ensure the service offer fits with the needs of organisations and has recently set up an Engineering and Manufacturing Employers Forum. For details contact the Business Enterprise team on 01202 205500 or email be@thecollege.co.uk.
