About the Faculty of Health, Care and Education

The Faculty is divided into the three main areas:

  • Childhood and Social Care Studies
  • Medical & Health Sciences
  • Workforce Development & Teacher Training.

Each area offers a wide range of learning programmes which collectively cover:

  • Counselling
  • Early years care and education,
  • Health care,
  • Social care
  • Education
  • Teacher Training
  • Child Care
  • Medical and Health sciences.

Our lecturers come with backgrounds as care professionals in occupations such as child minding, counselling, health visiting, midwifery, nursery education, nursing, playwork, primary school teaching and social work.

We understand the needs of adult learners as well as those of school leavers. Practical 'hands-on' experience in care is an important component of our learning programmes. We are committed to relating theory to practice, so that what you learn in college is relevant to the real world of caring for people.

We're proud of the fact that we are an academic and vocational centre for learning with links to Bournemouth and Southampton Universities.

We welcome applications from people from a wide range of educational backgrounds and make every effort to treat all our learners with courtesy and consideration. We take care to ensure that you will enter a learning programme that is right for you, thus maximising your chance of success.

We also offer progression routes through different levels of study and are very pleased that many of our learners return to us to develop their qualifications.  Many of our learners also achieve the qualifications to enable them to enter professional training in occupations such as midwifery, nursing, social work, early years, teaching and dental nursing.

We hope you find our web site useful.  However, if you cannot find the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact The College helpline on 01202 205205 or The Faculty of Health, Care and Education on 01202 205908.
