In the UK International students can study for Health and Social Care Diplomas at Level 3-4.
Once enrolled onto the Health and Social Care course, an initial induction will be completed at which will assess your current level and any areas of your experience/knowledge that needs particular attention. It will also enable you to plan and select appropriate units for your Diploma.
After initial induction you will be provided with a timetable and expected to attend college full time for the duration of your course. This will start by providing the underpinning knowledge required by your Diploma. You will also be able to access individual tutorials and English support at the college, as well as have access to the Learning Resource Centre and the Virtual Learning Environment. You will also work on the 'Refreshed Common Inductions standards' for care workers in UK.
The Induction will also help you in developing skills to assist you with day to day living in the UK such as:
- Going shopping,
- Travelling by public transport
- Going to the cinema
You will also be introduced to practical aspects of care including use of equipment.
Additional excursions to other cities such as London and Edinburgh can also be arranged.
You will also be able to access individual tutorials and English support at The College, as well as have access to the Learning Resource Centre and Virtual Learning Environment. This will provide you with access to invaluable resources to help you with your Diploma.
On completion of the level 3 Diploma you may be able to progress onto the Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma and the Overseas Nurses Programme (ONP).
