The Chefs Forum was launched in May 2006 as a partnership backed by The Bournemouth School of Hospitality and Food and the former Rungis Club. It was set up to strengthen links between The College and the local hospitality industry and encourage catering professionals, in particular chefs, to join a professional forum established to promote excellence in culinary expertise.
Both tutors from college and local chefs wanted to enhance the economic success of the region and to nurture fresh young talent ensuring quality trainee chefs were attracted into this industry locally, those with energy and creativity who will keep up the very best local catering traditions and skills in the future. This forum was seen as a powerful tool in bringing training providers, students and employers together.
The College already enjoys a reputation for exemplary catering training but accepts that local chefs who are working in the industry can have a massive influence on the skills training agenda for the next generation.
The Chefs Forum has set itself a mission to promote catering excellence, and to provide an arena for debate on topics of interest and concern to local chefs, plus of course that vital ingredient of having a good time, networking and socialising and adding value to the tough life of a chef!
This is very much a partnership. Local chefs and industry specialists working with The College. Through membership of the Chefs Forum local chefs will help us with future course and product development and will enjoy many of the additional benefits a professional and social network can bring.
