The College Foundation was set up in 1994 and was the first registered charity established in the U.K. to enhance the education of students attending a further education college. Since then we have raised over £1,000,000 for the benefit of our students.
Have you heard?
From 12 noon on Friday 3rd September the Lansdowne clock and chimes are back in full working order!
Thanks to your generous support we have been able to undertake specialist repair and restoration work... and like an old friend... the chimes are once again sounding out across the town.
The clock is now fully automated, including automatic winding mechanisms, pendulum regulators, and to ensure utmost accuracy, the clock is linked into a satellite system and self-checks every two hours. For the change over from British Summer Time, the clock will stop itself for an hour or eleven hours, and then automatically re-start at the correct time.
Every little helps!
Enough money has been gifted to get the clock working again, but we still need to raise the last little bit to enable us to replace some of the stained glass panels and to improve the back lighting which illuminates the clock at night.
Your donation will really count!
Every little adds up...and thanks to your support we have been able to conduct the work thus far, but would really like to 'add the icing to the cake' by completing the final stage of restoration works. The College receives no government funding for the upkeep or repairs of the impressive Grade II building at the Lansdowne, which is why your donations are so valuable to save this heritage landmark.
If you would like to make a donation please download the form and post it back to us.
Thank you
