Introduction:
This one day course is designed to give existing Access users additional skills on using the more advanced features and functions as well as maximising the effectiveness of this computer software.

Entry Requirements:
It is recommended that students have a good working knowledge of Access, i.e. have attended the Intermediate level course or have achieved Module 5 (Databases) of the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or Access Core level Microsoft Office Specialist qualification.

  • Creating macros
  • Adding macros to command buttons

  • Attaching macros to a form or report event

  • Advanced form features

  • Adding graphics to a form

Reports

  • Grouping data in reports
  • Creating calculations in reports
  • Adding graphics

Analysing Access Data in Excel

  • Embedding pivot tables and charts in Access

Designing a Database Application

  • Creating custom menus and toolbars
  • Attaching a custom menu/toolbars to a form
  • Menu form properties
  • Setting start up defaults

Database Documentation, Access and Internet

  • Using hyperlinks
  • Exporting datasheet views to HTML
  • Data Access pages

Course Assessment:
Progress monitoring is informal with continuous assessment throughout the day.

Course Progression:
On successful completion of the Advanced Microsoft Access Intensive you should be proficient in using the Access database package, and could progress onto another intensive short course at The College.

Specialist Resources:
This course is run by IT professionals in The College's IT Learning Zone at The Lansdowne campus or at a venue to suit.
